An MR is an individual registered with Phillip Capital who serves as an introducer. They are not a licensed holder authorized to deal in derivatives or stocks under the Securities Commission of Malaysia.

Be at least 21 years old

Must not be a licensed holder dealing in derivatives under Securities Commission of Malaysia

Have a minimum qualification, such as a degree, diploma, or professional qualification from a government-recognized institution

Complete a two (2) days Familiarisation Programme (FP1) and pass the assessment**

** CMSRL holders are not required to attend the Familiarisation Programme

Do’s for Marketing Representative:

  • arranging for the customer to meet with or speak to a dealer representative of Phillip Capital
  • forwarding the customer’s particulars to Phillip Capital
  • providing the customer with factual information regarding products and services offered by Phillip Capital, including conducting presentations with prior consent from Phillip Capital
  • informing the client about any remuneration scheme and its commission related to Marketing Representative activities, if requested by the client

Don’t for Marketing Representative:

  • prohibited from conducting suitability assessments for clients and providing specific recommendations to clients
  • not permitted to take clients’ orders, execute trades, handle or accept clients’ monies or provide transactional advice to clients
  • 1 set of MR Application Form
  • 2 sets of MR Agreement (initial on every page)
  • A copy of NRIC (back and front)
  • A copy of applicant’s recent coloured passport sized photograph
  • A copy of applicant’s relevant academic certificates
  • A copy of applicant’s certificate of attendance for the Familiarisation Programme (FP1) and proof of passing the assessment for the work permit, or CMSRL license **
  • Proof of payment for the RM250 registration fee
  • Registration fees shall be deposited into the bank account with the following details:

** CMSRL holders are exempted from the registration fee of RM250

There are two registration options for the programme:

  • Option A: [Online] E-learning + assessment (RM550*)
  • Option B: [Physical] Learning + assessment (RM1,100*)

*Fees are not inclusive of 8% SST

Yes, MRs are required to complete five (5) days of training annually, with each day comprising a minimum of seven (7) hours. They may fulfill this requirement by attending training sessions, seminars, or webinars organized by Phillip Capital or any principal with whom they are registered.

The training must be relevant to their activities and aimed at maintaining continuous competency.

No, surrendering your CMSRL is not required to register as an MR, provided there is no conflict of interest. It is essential, however, to obtain your principal’s awareness and agreement regarding this arrangement. 

As a CMSRL holder, you are exempt from attending the Familiarisation Programme and completing the assessment, as your CMSRL certification is deemed sufficient.
